A pilot study was
conducted to investigate the efficacy of MEIS Computer Kinesiology in
physiotherapy in individuals having lower back pain that were not responsive to
conventional treatment.
This analysis incorporated 55 patients having acute and chronic back pain (Group 1), 51 persons without any back pain (Group 2), and 67 healthy volunteers with no back pain and no evidence of musculoskeletal pathologies (Group 3, control group). Using the diagnostic part of the Computer Kinesiology method, all the 173 subjects (57 males, 116 females) were evaluated three times.
After every diagnostics, Groups 1 and 2 were cured while Group 3 was not cured. Using the H score, the efficacy of MEIS Computer Kinesiology was determined. Improvements after treatment were assessed as minimization of the H score by at least one point.
The percentage of patients in which H score reduced by at least one point in Group 1 and Group 2 is depicted in the following table:
Age, gender, length of the therapy, and body mass index (BMI) did not affect the improvement.
A remarkable improvement of H Score grade was noted in Group 1 and 2 while no alteration of H Score grade distribution was noted in Group 3. The proportion of H Score before and after Computer Kinesiology therapy is shown in the following figure:
Computer Kinesiology
may serve as a valuable tool for diagnosing and treating patients suffering
from acute and chronic low back pain.
