The DysmenQoL questionnaire effectively quantifies the profound impact of menstrual pain on women's quality of life, which is notably linked to menstrual bleeding severity, dyspareunia, infertility, and premenstrual syndrome.

According to a study issued in ‘Journal of Clinical Medicine’, a staggering 83.7% of women experience menstrual pain linked to various risk factors. The findings indicate that dysmenorrhea substantially impacts the quality of life (QoL), with nearly 73.9% of women acknowledging its adverse effects on daily activities, social interactions, and relationships. This cross-sectional research by Mihaela Amza et al. involved 504 women of reproductive age (18 to 45 years).

This study assessed the prevalence, risk factors, and characteristics of dysmenorrhea, as well as its effect on quality of life, utilizing the DysmenQoL questionnaire. It is a reliable tool devised to assess how menstrual pain impacts health, emotions and professional life. Data were collected using a custom form that included the DysmenQoL questionnaire, featuring 20 statements graded from 1 to 5 (“never” to “every time”) to assess menstrual pain's impact. The total score was termed the “DysmenQoL score.”

Statistical analysis revealed that dysmenorrhea was considerably linked with menstrual bleeding intensity, infertility, dyspareunia, premenstrual syndrome, and family history of menstrual pain. Notably, the DysmenQoL scores correlated with pain intensity, frequency, and duration, highlighting the need for effective pain management strategies. This study underscores the importance of recognizing dysmenorrhea's impact on women’s health and well-being.
