What's new?

Biling Weitong Granules + Trimethoprim (antibiotic) + Vonoprazan (potassium-competitive acid blocker) offers a safe and effective solution for patients with reflux esophagitis, beckoning a transformative era in healthcare.

Combining the time-tested efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine with contemporary pharmaceutical therapy, Yalan Chen et al. have introduced a novel approach that holds momentous potential in alleviating symptoms and enhancing clinical outcomes for reflux esophagitis.

At the heart of this groundbreaking treatment lies Biling Weitong Granules (BLWTG) rooted in centuries-old Chinese traditions. It is a meticulous blend of natural ingredients, comprising of Fructus Litseae, Rhizoma Corydalis, and Rhizoma Coptidis, etc. and known for its ability to promote qi and blood circulation, balance the stomach environment, and alleviate gastroepidermal pain.

This study included sixty patients with reflux esophagitis who underwent tailored treatment protocols comprising BLWTG along with Vonoprazan and Trimethoprim. While the control group received conventional therapy comprising trimethoprim and vonoprazan, the experimental group received BLWTG in addition to the standard pharmacological therapies.

The results were remarkable! Patients in the experimental group experienced significantly lower acid reflux and heartburn symptom scores compared to their counterparts in the control group. Moreover, their quality-of-life scores exhibited notable improvement, indicating the profound impact of the combined treatment approach. Also, the total clinical efficacy of the experimental group soared to an impressive 96.66%, surpassing the outcomes observed in the control group. The experimental group experienced a reduction in adverse reactions commonly associated with other treatments.

The incorporation of BLWTG into the treatment protocol led to a reduction in the incidence of Chinese medicine symptoms such as nausea, abdominal distension, and loss of appetite. As there were no noteworthy changes in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups, the safety of the experimental group treatment was as good as the control therapy, concluded Dr. Yalan Chen.
