Key take away

In patients with allergic rhinitis complicated with diabetes, Rupatadine fumarate + Acupoint application is safe and effective to mitigate clinical symptoms, increase therapeutic efficacy, and boost the drug's anti-allergic effects.

Background

In a retrospective study, the effect of treating allergic rhinitis complicated by diabetes with a combination of Rupatadine fumarate and Acupoint application was examined, as well as the impact on serum IgE levels.

Method

Eighty patients with allergic rhinitis complicated by diabetes were enrolled in total, and they were divided into two groups. The control group received just Rupatadine fumarate, while the research group received it together with Acupoint treatment. The clinical effectiveness of the two patient groups was assessed by analyzing their clinical observation indices both before and after therapy.

Result

In comparison to Rupatadine fumarate alone (10 cases of inefficient, 16 cases of efficient, and 14 cases of markedly efficient), Rupatadine fumarate + Acupoint application was associated with remarkably greater effectiveness (3 cases of inefficient, 14 cases of efficient, and 23 cases of markedly efficient), as shown in Figure 1:

After therapy, levels of immunoglobulin E and nasal mucosal eosinophils declined dramatically in both patient groups, with the research group showing lower outcomes. When compared to candidates in the control group, candidates in the research group had substantially lower syndrome scores. In comparison to Rupatadine fumarate alone, Rupatadine fumarate + Acupoint treatment led to substantially higher levels of interferon-gamma, interleukin-4 levels, and lower physical sign scores. In the two groups, the side effects incidence was similar.

Conclusion

For the treatment of diabetes-complicated allergic rhinitis, a combination of Rupatadine fumarate and Acupoint application therapy appears to be a promising substitute with a favorable safety profile.
