What's new?

Utilizing combination of EMTT and ESWT offers an effective treatment modality for RC tendinopathy patients, especially when conservative and surgical treatment failed.

As per a recent study published in the Journal, Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine highlights the significant role of electromagnetic transduction therapy (EMTT) combined with extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) reduced pain and improve function than ESWT or sham-EMTT among the patients with Rotator cuff (RC) tendinopathy.

RC tendinopathy is the primary reason behind having shoulder pain. The efficiency of EMTT in combination with ESWT to manage this shoulder pain was not assessed before. The study involved eighty-six patients who randomly went through three ESWT sessions along with eight EMTT  or sham-EMTT sessions.

Both treatment groups endured a considerable and clinically significant drop in pain at all follow-up visits. Constant Murley score exhibited a substantial improvement in the functionality of the shoulder. After 24 weeks, the ESWT + EMTT combination showed a considerable pain reduction as compared to either sham EMTT or ESWT group. The Constant Murley score exhibited significant improvement when the combination of ESWT and EMTT was applied.

On the basis of these findings, EMTT + ESWT group presented better outcomes compared to another group.
