To examine the revolutions in therapy and/or appointments for people with psoriasis during COVID-19 pandemic.
During COVID-19, care of patients suffering
from chronic inflammatory skin diseases has become a challenging task. This
study supported the need of altering patient care in accordance with individual
requirements, thereby promoting the overall well-being of the patients with
psoriasis.
To examine the revolutions in therapy and/or appointments
for people with psoriasis during COVID-19 pandemic.
A postal survey was conducted and the possible determinants
of changes were investigated with the help of descriptive statistics and
multivariate logistic regression.
About 19.5% failed to attend an appointment and 9.8%
switched to different therapy due COVID pandemic out of total 205 patients
under consideration.Treatment switches were encouraged by patients (50%) and
doctors (40%), while appointments were recalled mostly as requested by the
patients (70%). Various patient-related
major drivers of changes, comprising sociodemographic, disease- and
health-liked attributes were identified. Treatment
switches and appointments were linked with greater psoriasis severity scores
and more common disease aggravations.
It is especially essential to modify the psoriasis care to
individual needs in order to safeguard the physical and mental well-being of
patients.
