Key take away

Asian patients with acute non-surgical orthopedic and non-orthopedic pain can benefit from fixed-dose combination of Tramadol (75 mg) and Dexketoprofen (25 mg). This combination is effective to relieve pain, well-tolerated, and shows high degree of patient satisfaction.

Background

A retrospective case series investigated the real-world efficacy and tolerability of the Tramadol/Dexketoprofen (TRAM/DKP) fixed-dose combination (FDC) for managing acute non-surgical pain in Asian patients.

Method

Data was gathered retrospectively from 11 Asian patients across various healthcare facilities who had undergone a brief course of TRAM/DKP FDC for the management of acute non-surgical orthopedic and non-orthopedic pain. Information pertaining to baseline characteristics, medical history, treatment protocols, clinical results, and patient contentment was collated and subsequently discussed during a peer-to-peer expert gathering held in October 2022.

Result

Each patient reported a drop in the intensity of their pain and expressed a high degree of contentment with the pain management they received, with an average satisfaction score of 4.3 out of 5. Among these patients, five individuals within the age range of 63 to 74 experienced mild adverse effects, such as dizziness, vomiting, and nausea. Importantly, these adverse effects were of a temporary nature and required no additional medical intervention in the majority of cases. No instances of severe adverse events were documented.

Conclusion

Asian patients experiencing acute non-surgical orthopedic and non-orthopedic pain exhibited effective pain control through the utilization of TRAM/DKP FDC. The treatment regimen was well-tolerated, and patients reported a notable degree of satisfaction with the outcomes, signifying that TRAM/DKP FDC represents a viable and effective option for managing acute non-surgical pain.
