Pain has always been the major reason for primary care consultations. It signifies that something going inside the body is not right. Chronic pain results, if acute pain is left untreated for considerable period. Pharmacological management is important for controlling any sort of pain. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used for acute pain treatment. Their primary mode of action is the COX inhibition, due to which they also exert dose dependent side effects. Also, they have shown to produce cerebrovascular and gastrointestinal disorders including ulcers and bleeding at therapeutic doses and heart, kidneys and liver damage at higher doses.
