Aloe vera, 0.1% Triamcinolone acetonide, and 5% Amlexanox can effectively relieve oral lichen planus.
This observational study examined the efficacy of Aloe vera, 0.1% Triamcinolone acetonide, and 5% Amlexanox for managing oral lichen planus (inflammatory oral mucosal disease).
Overall, 120 participants (aged 40–70 years) diagnosed with oral lichen planus were evenly distributed into three groups:
The patients were instructed to administer the prescribed medication to the affected areas three times daily (following meals) for a duration of 15 days. Pain levels were examined using the visual analogue scale (VAS), and ulcerative lesion type and erosive area were evaluated on days 1, 7, and 15 of the study. The collected data underwent statistical analysis using the Mann–Whitney U test, with a significance level of P < 0.05.
A profound drop in VAS pain scores, reduction in erosive area on the buccal mucosa, and improvement in ulcer healing were witnessed from day 1 to day 15 with all three tested drugs (Table 1 and Figure 1).
The findings indicated that Aloe vera, Triamcinolone acetonide, and Amlexanox were all efficient for oral lichen planus management.
