What's new?

For the treatment of lumbar spine disease, clinicians may use mirogabalin for the relief of neuropathic pain.

A recent study was conducted to determine the efficiency of mirogabalin for the treatment of peripheral neuropathic pain occurring in the condition of lumbar spine disease.

In this study, sixty patients suffering leg symptoms due to lumbar disease were considered for treatment with mirogabalin. The results of treatment were assessed after eight weeks of therapy to compare the pre and post- administration using Numerical Rating Scale, Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire, quality of life (QOL) score and Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) for leg symptoms and sleep disturbance.

Mirogabalin treatment was discontinued in eight patients before eight weeks. The rest of fifty-two patients were allocated into two groups. In group 1, 17 patients with leg symptoms lasting for less than three months were included, and in group 2, 35 patients with leg symptoms lasting for longer than three months were included. The lower back pain and leg symptoms in both groups considerably became better at four and eight weeks of treatment.

The pretreatment quality of life and leg symptoms were considerably worse in group 1 as compared to group 2. They achieved improvement after 8 weeks of mirogabalin treatment considerably. Thus, the study confirmed that the effect of mirogabalin on neuropathic pain due to lumbar spine disease was successful.
