In patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria, Type D personality is related to poor quality of life and mood status disturbances.
A recent study revealed the association between the Type D personality (TDp) and worse quality of life, and mood status disturbances irrespective of disease severity, majorly in the psychological and emotional domains in chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) patients. In this cross-sectional study, the researchers aimed to assess the influence of TDp on CSU patients, concerning sleep disturbances, sexuality, quality of life, and mood disturbances.
Overall, 75 subjects with CSU were incorporated. Utilizing validated questionnaires, the collection of the data on Tdp, depression, anxiety, sexual dysfunction, sleep, quality of life, and socio-demographic variables and disease activity was done. The presence of the Tdp was observed in 28% of subjects.
Even though TDp was not linked to worse disease control, the presence of depression and anxiety was greater in TDp people. Association between Tdp and poor quality of life was witnessed. A higher frequency of sleep disturbances was also witnessed. The occurrence of Tdp was found to be comparable in CSU patients and the general population.
