Interleukin-17F rs763780 polymorphism appears to be significantly associated with higher psoriasis risk.
A meta-analysis depicted that interleukin-17F rs763780, a putative single nucleotide polymorphism locus in IL-17 genes, is considerably linked with a raised risk of developing psoriasis in Asian population, but not in Caucasians. Zhi Xiang et al. undertook this study to assess the link between interleukin-17F rs763780 polymorphism and susceptibility to psoriasis.
Databases like EMBASE, PubMed, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang and Chinese Biomedical Literature databases, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were comprehensively explored. Case-control studies that stated odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals assessing genotype and allele frequencies of interleukin-17F rs763780 polymorphism in psoriasis people compared to people without psoriasis were included.
Overall, 7 case-control studies including 1585 controls and 1824 cases were recognized. As per the pooled odds ratios, the interleukin-17F rs763780 C allele was a vital risk factor for psoriasis development in the homozygote model, allele frequency, and recessive model. The subgroup assessment by ethnicity further illustrated that C allele was closely linked with an elevated risk of psoriasis in Asians. However, this link was not witnessed in the Caucasian population.
