What's new?

Clinicians may consider prescribing Erysimum enriched gummy lozenges along with the standard pharmacological therapy for the better management of upper respiratory tract infection associated sore throat in children.

Gummy lozenges comprising Erysimum emerges as reliable adjuvant therapy for upper respiratory tract infection associated sore throat in children, evident from a newly conducted observational, prospective, parallel-group, multiple-dose trial. The present study includes standard pharmacological directed therapy with an open-label comparison vs standard pharmacological directed treatment alone. Outcomes were measured pre- and three days post-treatment.

Out of the 112 selected participants, 69 obtained the study product. A significant decline was noticed in Pharyngitis Symptom and Pain Intensity Score and Pharyngitis Symptom Scores among the patients who received erysuimum enriched gummy lozenges. The treatment was also linked to statistically notable improvements in Child’s General Conditions. 94% and 91% of the treated patients showed good/very good tolerability and efficacy, respectively. The children rated the flavour of lozenges to be good and found it easy to administer.
