Pain Management

Self-experienced acute pain refers to the unpleasant sensory and emotional experience related to tissue damage on one's own body. Self-pain perception evokes an increased pain sensitivity and withdrawal urges from the pain-inducing stimulus. Previous studies revealed that vicarious pain could activate the behavioural defence system, which may result in the decrease in self-pain tolerance and increased self-pain intensity and unpleasantness ratings in the observer.

Pain in children with progressive neurodegenerative/chromosomal conditions and impairment in the central nervous system is recurrent, under-recognised and undertreated as little is known about the characterisation, prevalence and management of pain in children suffering from progressive neurologic, metabolic or chromosomal abnormalities and impairment of the central nervous system.

An injury is a significant risk factor for osteoarthritis (OA), a highly prevalent and disabling joint disease. The joint shape is linked to OA, but the interplay of injury and joint form and is not well known their combined role in OA, particularly at the ankle. Therefore, it explored cross-sectional associations between ankle shape and injury in a large community-based cohort.

Total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) shows a statistically significant in reducing complications during endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), an interpretation of a recently executed a double‐blind, randomised, controlled trial. One of the major complications of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is bleeding which can damage visualisation and delay the operation.

The US FDA just passed a sTMS  new device for migraine prevention. In 2014, the neuromodulation device was approved by the FDA and accepted for acute and preventive treatment in 2014 and 2016, respectively the CE mark in Europe. According to the manufacturer, the device is currently the only product, drug or device approved for the acute treatment of a migraine and the prevention of a chronic migraine and episodic.

The Sphenopalatine Ganglion (SPG), the cluster of nerve cells connected to the trigeminal nerve, the main nerve participating in headache pain disorders. Regional anaesthetic suprazygomatic SPG block is a simple and effective approach for quick relief of Status migrainosus (SM) with minimal risk.

Introduction:
Status migrainosus (SM) is commonly known as a debilitating migraine attack lasting more than 72 hours in patients previously known to suffer from a migraine headache. Normally, these attacks fail to respond to over the counter and abortive medications.

Hernia restoration is a general surgical approach with little postoperative complications, but some of the patients continue to tolerate chronic postoperative pain and discomfort for several months to years. As many of the studies govern the role of Pregabalin in post-surgical pain management, this analysis evaluates this drug efficacy and safety in managing post-Lichtenstein herniorrhaphy pain.

A gamma-aminobutyric acid analog, pregabalin shows excellent efficacy in maintaining different neuropathic pains, as well as in inflammatory and incisional injuries.

Various modalities provide postoperative analgesia in breast cancer surgeries for example opiates, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, wound infiltration with local anaesthetic agents, thoracic epidural, and paravertebral blocks. This randomized study explored the efficacy of dexmedetomidine regarding prolonged duration and improved quality of postoperative analgesia further supporting bupivacaine in pecs I and II blocks.

Dexmedetomidine has been proved to be safe and efficacious in sustaining the duration of peripheral nerve blocks.

This study explained that the Posterior approach TAP block (PTAP) provided a sensory block that involved a greater number of dermatomes and involvement of more cephalad dermatome blocked to sharp touch as compared to the Lateral approach TAP block (LTAP) under US guidance. The posterolateral spread of the local analgesic agent to the paravertebral space might be linked to the high number of dermatomes.

Ultrasound (US)-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block is used as a part of a multimodal analgesic regimen in the postoperative period.
